Streaming audio services push music lovers to return to vinyl records

It would seem that with the advent of streaming music services CDs, and even more so vinyl records forever will go to the past. But then something unexpected happened. Among young music lovers, more and more fans are beginning to return, as they say, to the roots and listen to the good old vinyl.

Recent studies have shown a significant increase in sales of CDs and vinyl records. As it turned out, after listening to streaming music services, many music lovers wanted to get their favorite hits in a more “live” version. So sales of vinyl discs in the outgoing year grew by 50% and can reach 2 million copies by the end of December.

The drop in sales and CDs stopped. Moreover, BPI (British Association of Phonogram Producers) and Entertainment Retailers Association strongly recommend to acquire “solid” musical copies, since they have better sound quality. As Jeff Taylor, Executive Director of BPI and BRIT Awards, said:

“The enduring appeal of CDs and vinyl has surprised many music experts who wrote on this subject many years ago. The share of “retro-carriers” still accounts for about 40% of all consumed music in the UK. “
