Students from Singapore built Snowstorm – electric aircraft

Snow for sunny Singapore – an absolute exotica, which the inhabitants of this metropolis can feel, except that having visited a special closed Snowy City. Perhaps the impressions received during his visit prompted the students of the engineering faculty of the local National University to create the original aircraft, which they called Snowstorm (“Snowstorm”).

Indeed, the sound of working 24 electric motors is somewhat reminiscent of the snowstorms familiar to us. From the technical characteristics of the experimental model it is known that the machine is capable of lifting a weight of about 70 kg and holding in the air for about 5 minutes. The panel to which the engines are attached is in the form of a hexagon.

One of the creators of Snowstorm, the third-year student of the engineering department Sean Sim, shared his impressions of the work:

“The design and creation of Snowstorm has become an excellent school for us. The most difficult task was to provide the necessary traction for lifting a person into the air. At each stage, we had to balance and look for trade-offs between the types of materials with their weight and characteristics. We even took advantage of 3D technology, having printed the chassis mount, which ensured their optimal fit. “
